Mr. Guanaga periodically appears live on Radio Fe, a Spanish-language radio show that transmits from Atlanta, Georgia, where he answers questions on immigration law and informs the audience on the latest immigration news. In the past, he has appeared on Law You Can Use, a Miami-based legal program, as a panelist on immigration law.
Mr. Guanaga is a member of the Florida Bar and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the national bar association for immigration lawyers. He is licensed to practice in Florida, before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. In Spring 2009, Mr. Guanaga was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court Bar. He is a commissioned Notary Public in Florida. Mr. Guanaga is fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of Portuguese, a skill that has served him well with his Brazilian clients. He is a graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Mr. Guanaga earned his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. During his free time, Mr. Guanaga is an active athlete and a creative writer. In 2007 he was recognized with an Honorable Mention by Billboard Magazine for one of his songs entered in the 14th Annual Billboard World Songwriting Contest.
